Last week Friday, the baby started showing some cold symptoms. By Sunday night he down for the count. Lots of sleeping, coughing, congestion, and a fever. After about 2 days of battling this cold dad took him to the doctor. Sure enough he received a diagnosis on influenza. And because I have such polite and mannerly children, he shared is fate with older brother. Ken has been sick since Tuesday but has since become better. Both boys are doing well. Unfortunately Kaelyn woke me up at about 6am this morning not feeling well. With Kaelyn and her asthma any cold let alone the flu can land us in the hospital. I'm praying it doesn't get bad for her. I'm turning to nature for some help fighting this sickness.
Here are some natural tips for fighting a cold:
REST!
Can't emphasize the importance of allowing your body the rest it needs to gain strength to fight off whatever is ailing it.
Eat, eat, eat!
Depending on the severity of your illness you may not have an appetite. Remember food is our bodies fuel. Proper nutrition is essential during times of illness. Chicken soup truly is for the soul. Homemade chicken soup often feature a conglomerate of healthy germ fighting agents. Need a recipe? Check this one out for a simple homemade chicken soup!
Tea
My husband swears by hunny lemon tea. Not sure about the truth in it curing colds but it is soothing going down!
Liquids!
I know your throat hurts, I know your stuffy nose is preventing you from being able to taste anything. But you have to push fluids. And yes, water is a fluid! If our bodies are mostly made of water I think its a good idea to give it a little extra during time of illness.
I’ve met so many broken people, people filled with negative energy, people without any hope, people living in despair, people completely unaware that they possess everything necessary to live a fulfilled and enriched life! I was once one of those people, until I took ownership of my life and decided to live on purpose and full of purpose!

Snow Day!
As the title suggests, today was a snow day for us! We had one of the worst blizzard's I've seen in some time. I'm not sure what the actual measurements were, but I'm guessing around 16" Our morning was filled with digging out, then Team Hart spent some time playing in the snow.
We had 60MPH wind gusts, and this is what they did to my siding along the roof line.
That fence is 3.5' tall.
Mr. Hart finding a way to the garage.
Even Bear got out and enjoyed the snow.
